Coffee can Reduce Depression in Women

New research reveals, the coffee may lower risk of depression in women. In that study is known, women who drank 2-3 cups of coffee a day, a little (15%) have the potential to develop depression during the 10-year period than those who drank one cup of coffee or less per week.

Studies involving 3000 women in the United States and is the information regarding the health benefits of coffee. Previous studies have revealed the relationship of coffee drinking with reduced risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer and stroke.

“Overall, the results of this study to convince coffee drinkers to not worry about the obvious consequences of consuming coffee. Because research shows a correlation between coffee and risk of depression, it does not mean that doctors recommend the consumption of coffee to the patient.” Said Dr. Seth Berkowitz. In the past 10 years, reportedly as many as 2600 cases of depression were reported. Women who drank four or more cups of coffee per day, 20% developed depression. Number of depression more developed by women who drank less coffee or no coffee.

Emma Robertson Blackmore, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center, called this finding “interesting”, but should still be careful of terms relating to vital health. One thing, the women included in this study were nurses and their caffeine consumption may not reflect the U.S. female population in general.

Caffeine may make people feel more energized, focused and put them in a better mood. “Women should be oriented towards a healthy balance in diet, stress reduction and exercise as well as notice the symptoms of depression that needs help health professionals,” said Emma.
